Southwest Airlines plans to serve PSP airport

If and when Coachella festivals resume, this could be good news for attendees coming from locations outside of SoCal: Southwest Airlines announced on Sept. 3 that it intends on adding year-round service to Palm Springs International Airport later this year. It could definitely help improve accessibility for those traveling to Coachella by air and help avoid the freeway congestion to/from airports such as LAX, SAN, and even ONT. Southwest often offers lower airfares than the competition when it enters a new market, and that could help bring prices on PSP flights down. The flight schedule and connecting airports are still TBA.

Man imagine if half the people leaving could leave straight from palm springs, the drive home would be so much nicer

I also read that a few other airlines will also be adding service to PSP. primarily Jet Blue. if I was coming from out of state I would definitely be trying to take advantage of this, especially if I had a bunch of miles to use.
