    The Smile

The first track has just been released off of the anticipated new album by Thom Yorke's and Johnny Greenwood's side project, The Smile, featuring jazz drummer Tom Skinner of Sons of Kemet. "You Will Never Work in Television Again” has a punchier, harder rock quality than much of Radiohead's and Thom's solo stuff in recent years. It captures where Radiohead was back in the 90's, particularly from The Bends era, and will please old school RH fans. There's no way of knowing if this is a harbinger of what to expect from the rest of the album or if the other cuts will be more moody and downtempo.

Hopefully, they will be booked for Coachella 2022. It will make the festival worthwhile no matter who fucking headlines.

Wasn't too excited about this project, but that single is pretty exciting. Interested to hear how the rest of the album sounds, hoping we'll get it soon.

Another track by The Smile has been released, "The Smoke." This one has more of a 00's-era Radiohead sound and is much less punchy than "You Will Never Work in Television Again." Besides the unconventional time signatures, it includes jazz instrumentation with drummer Tom Skinner's Sons of Kemet bandmate Theon Cross playing tuba, Byron Wallen playing trumpet, Chelsea Carmichael and Jason Yarde playing saxophone, Nathaniel Cross playing trombone, and Robert Stillman on multiple instruments, according to Pitchfork. Like the previous track, it is also produced by Nigel Godrich.
