Now the legal proceedings have commenced: http://www.brooklynvegan.com/woodsto...-aegis-network

Woodstock 50 is reportedly seeking forced arbitration for Dentsu, and the return of the $17 million it says was stolen.
Meanwhile, Lang says he has until Friday to raise $30 million to save the festival.

I’m gonna assume that this isn’t happening. But it will be fun to watch the aftermath

Well a justice from the NY Supreme Court has ruled that the investment firm originally backing Woodstock 50, Dentsu, and its subsidiary, Amplifi Live, had no right to cancel the festival and that organizer Michael Lang and his group can proceed holding it. However, Dentsu and Amplifi Live do not have to return the $17.8M that they withdrew from the shared bank account. This means that Lang must scramble to raise millions of dollars to secure permits and cover other expenses in order for the festival to take place in mid-August. Additional litigation and more drama are likely to follow.

Oh he most definitely SHOULD sue for them announcing it was canceled without having the power to do so. That act right there is an act of sabotage that will absolutely affect peoples willingness to buy tickets for the event.

More setbacks as the saga continues...

The venue in which Woodstock 50 was supposed to take place, Watkins Glen International racetrack, rescinded its site license for the festival. Additionally, its current production company, CID Entertainment, dropped out. However, the festival's organizers insist the event is still happening, and they will find another location where it can be hosted. https://pitchfork.com/news/woodstock-50-loses-venue

Maybe they can use the parking lot of the local Walmart up the road?

In the latest edition of the Woodstock 50 saga, the organizers are now expected to sign a letter of intent to have Vernon Downs racetrack as the host venue for the festival according to the Poughkeepsie Journal. The proposed maximum capacity would be reduced to 65K people.

Also, Billboard reports that the organizers have approached Jason Felts of Virgin Produced, the company that stages KAABOO, to take over the festival production now that Superfly and CID have pulled out.

              Stay tuned!

I still don't see them pulling this off...Will the bands that were previously announced still be legally committed to appearing at this fest? With all the uncertainty, the relocation, and downsizing?

They all got paid up front. If they gave the money back they can back out. Im sure thats what the Black Keys did in order to save themselves form this mess. I dont feel anything is happening until they actually sell tickets at least. So if theyre going to try and pull off that many ticket sales in under a month, then its a miracle.

If Woodstock 50 organizers have a new venue and a potential producer waiting in the wings, they haven't told the 80 artists listed on the Woodstock 50 lineup.

Managers, agents and publicists for the bands playing the Aug 14-16 anniversary are telling Billboard that co-founder Michael Lang and partner Greg Peck have not reached out with any updates on a potential new site for the festival at the Vernon Downs racetrack in Upstate New York, about two hours east of the original site at Watkins Glen.
                    .
                    .
                    .

Several sources say Watkins Glen's announcement about cancelling Woodstock's 50 license to use the site gives artists legal cover to pull out of the event, since the Woodstock 50 contract specifically states the event will be taking place at speedway, not two hours away. But it's not entirely uncommon for festivals to change locations, sometimes at the last minute, and artists usually agree to make the move with the event. But the longer Woodstock drags things, it's likely to make artists increasingly nervous about the potential for a disaster akin to the last Woodstock event in 1999, which ended with rioting and out of control fires.

"Each artist will have to make a decision about whether this is something they want to take on now that so much has changed," one source tells Billboard. "Often, the artist will feel compelled to play because they don't want to disappoint their fans, but in the case of Woodstock 50, no one has bought tickets yet, so there's not really anyone to disappoint.

The permit to hold the festival at Vernon Downs in Upstate NY has been denied by the town of Vernon, according to Oneida County Administrator Anthony Picente Jr. The promoters are appealing the decision, but many of the city's and county's requirements to stage the festival have not been met, making it highly unlikely it will happen there. From Variety: https://variety.com/2019/music/news/...ied-1203262790

“It’s been chaotic,” he said of the past few weeks’ scramble to stage the festival at Vernon Downs, which has no camping facilities, after the previous proposed venue, Watkins Glen International speedway, pulled out last month. “Originally it was going to be a three-day festival, but then [the producers] said instead it would be three one-day events, with all 65,000 or however many people vacating the grounds at the end of each day.”

Asked about the likelihood that producers could appeal the decision and the festival could be staged at Vernon Downs, Picentre allowed that “anything is possible,” but noted, “We could have done this with a year or 16 months advance [planning], but to do it in three to six weeks is really a near impossibility from a public safety and health standpoint,” he continued. “As someone who as here for 1999 [Woodstock’s troubled 30th anniversary concert in nearby Rome, N.Y., which was marred by violence and fires], some names have changed but it’s largely the same situation.”
Ouch! It's only five weeks away from the announced festival dates and still no venue has been finalized nor have passes gone on sale. The Poughkeepsie Journal reports that Woodstock 50 has issued a statement: https://www.poughkeepsiejournal.com/...non/1687772001:

"In response to the denial of an event permit by the Town of Vernon, Woodstock 50 believes certain political forces may be working against the resurrection of the festival," the statement read. "Local reports claim Woodstock’s filing for the permit was 'incomplete' but that is not the case. Woodstock 50 officials were informed by the Town of Vernon that most questions had been answered and asked only that Woodstock submit medical, safety/security and traffic plans by this past Sunday, which it did. With a venue chosen, financing assembled and many of the artists supporting Woodstock’s 50th anniversary event, the organizers are hopeful that their appeal and reapplication tonight will prevail without further political interference."

Earlier Tuesday, Woodstock 50 President Gregory Peck said in a statement that plans for addressing safety and traffic concerns were not yet complete.
